In Good Hands: My Trusted Pharmacy Partner for Post-Op

Dr. Shachar Tauber, a practicing physician for more than 20 years is the Director of Ophthalmology Research, Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Mercy Clinic in Springfield, Mo., where he and fellow surgeons are the first to provide laser-assisted cataract surgery in Southwest Missouri. He is also CEO of Tauber Ophthalmic Research of America; a cornea and refractive surgeon and director of ophthalmic research at St. John’s Clinic; medical director of Ocugenics LLC; and assistant professor and director of cornea and refractive surgery at Yale University of School of Medicine.

At Mercy, where our ophthalmic surgeons perform 5,000 surgeries a year, getting patients to comply with pre- and post-surgery medication regimens used to be daunting. Patients consistently complained that taking the multiple different drops at different times was too confusing. 

Compliance was spotty and we were receiving low satisfaction scores from our patients. This patient frustration was also affecting our staff, which meant significant time was spent dealing with patient and pharmacy challenges over the phone. It was apparent we had to find a solution.
